Cops: Drugs, Alcohol Not a Factor in Arquette Crash

David Arquette is clear of mind—and clear of criminal wrongdoing.
A spokesman with the Beverly Hills Police Department has confirmed that investigators have determined the 39-year-old actor was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of last Friday night's crash.
"No drugs or alcohol were detected," Lt. Tony Lee tells E! News. "Looks like it was just a straight-on traffic accident, though in this case he drove on the wrong side of the road. This will be dealt with between him and the other party, but people make mistakes."

Arquette no doubt made a big one. After turning into oncoming traffic, he ended up colliding another vehicle head-on, but luckily both he and the female driver he hit escaped with only minor injuries.
The recently rehabbed thesp subsequently tweeted about the crash shortly after it happened ("Remember to wear your seatbelt—wish I was") and stressed to his followers that he had not fallen off the wagon, a fact born out by the subsequent police investigation.
"Refused all pain medication-may the record state-still sober!" he wrote.
Arquette, who's admitted going on more than a few benders after separating from his wife of 11 years, actress Courteney Cox, last October, prompting him to seek treatment for alcohol abuse, skipped an event in Vegas due to the accident and will continue to rest up.
Here's hoping David stays on the right path from now on.
