Can Jaden and Will Smith Save M. Night Shyamalan's Career?

How's this for an exciting plot: Father and son Will and Jaden Smith team up to overcome incredible odds to save someone in their time of need.
That person? M. Night Shyamalan.
Wait...really? After phenomenal bombs like The Last Airbender and The Happening, the talented but slumping director has signed on to a project starring one of the world's biggest movie stars and Will Smith.
And here's the thing...
While the movie still doesn't have a title, the trio is coming together for a sci-fi flick set 1,000 years in the future about a boy and his father whose spaceship crashes on an abandoned planet Earth.
Penned by Shyamalan with the elder Smith also on as a producer, the film could be the spark M. Night needs to revitalize his career. Shyamalan has tons of talent, and we bet he (and the audience) will benefit from Smith's hands-on approach to his and his son's career, both of which are doing quite well. Jaden's star-making turn in the Karate Kid with Jackie Chan brought in more than $350 million, and we can only imagine that the Smith's plan to build on that kind of amazing success.
"The chance to make a scary, science-fiction film starring Jaden and Will is my dream project," the director said in a statement about the new film.
And now that it seems to have come true, we can't wait to see the results.
SAY WHAT?! Charlie Sheen dishes exclusively to E! on his Torpedo of Truth show
