Keshi To Coach The Nigerian National Football Team

Former Eagles captain and one time assistant coach, Stephen Keshi will be announced new Eagles head coach today when the Technical Committee of the football federation will formally announce him as their choice.
There have never been doubts about the choice of the federation since they decided to part ways with Samson Siasia for failing to qualify Nigeria for the 2012 Nations Cup.

The football federation had also never considered appointing assistants for Keshi. He would be allowed to choose his crew. Keshi has said that he would work with Nigerian assistants and that their focus will be on developing players from the local league. “I hope everything turns out well. It will be a great honour to coach the national team of Nigeria. This is the much I can say.

I have not been given the job yet. When that is done I’ll talk about my programme but it will not be far from focusing at home to build again,” Keshi reportedly said yesterday.
Media speculations have, however, thrown up other names. But the authorities never had eyes elsewhere other than the former Togo and Mali coach.

The federation has now agreed to offer him a full time contract but we gathered last night that it would be a very short contract that would, hopefully, be renewed with time.
They had considered engaging him on interim basis but after deliberations last night they decided to offer him a short contract.I think it is because of past experiences, well its a good choice.
