Cher Lloyd has been signed to Jay Z’s record label, apparently…

Well, well, well, this is a turn up for the books isn’t it? Despite all of Will.i.am’s praise for Cher Lloyd it seems as though Jay Z decided to get in there first and sign the young singer to his record label Roc Nation.

According to The Sun, Jay Z scooped Cher up on his label after hearing about Will.i.am’s interest in her. A source told the publication:

“Even though Cher didn't do terrifically well in the X Factor finals, there's been a hell of a lot of interest in her. Will.i.am's backing only intensified the battle to get her signature.

"After weighing up the pros and cons, it was thought that the team at Roc Nation would be best placed to turn her dreams of stardom into a reality."

It sounds as if Will.i.am’s already had a bit of a say in that as well; even though he lost the bid to sign Cher to his label he has managed to get the X Factor star to lend her vocals to one of his new tracks. Earlier this week the Black Eyed Peas singer revealed on Twitter:

“The day after the last xfactor...cher loyd and I went in the studio and made a mega smasher...”

By “mega smasher” he means a big song by the way – it wasn’t a euphemism…
