Jennifer Lawrence Cast as Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Game

Surprise! Jennifer Lawrence is Katniss Everdeen—as we first told you two weeks ago was likely to happen.
Lionsgate and reps for Lawrence both confirm she's been cast in The Hunger Games.
"She's super excited," Jennifer's rep tells us.
You should be, girl! All of Young Hollywood was dying for this part.
Your new heroine shouldn't come as a surprise, so now that you've had some time to let it sink in, do you approve?
She's got something in common with Twilight's Robert Pattinson, that's for sure!

As already 'fessed, we've been torn about whether we give our stamp of approval for Lawrence. But the more we think about it, the more we're really into the idea.
First and foremost, we need a good actress to play Katniss—and an Oscar-nominated beauty certainly will do.
If she can ugly herself up for Winter's Bone, she can make the transition into olive-skinned Katniss Everdeen. Plus, don't forget: Katniss' home of District 12 is supposed to be in the Appalachian Mountains—and J.L. is from Kentucky.
Jennifer was put through the ringer to land this role, trust, so she clearly kicked ass during the gruesome audition process.
Still, we would love for the studio behind The Hunger Games to give us just a tiny teaser of Lawrence as Katniss. She's got to be brunette by now, right? Give us something! Anything!
Hunger die-hards may not be too thrilled this morning (yes, we read through the comments and polls), but remember, nobody liked Robert Pattinson when he landed the role of Edward Cullen.
There were even petitions to get him booted off the movie! And we think we can all agree that turned out all right, yeah?
So let's all cut Jennifer a break? Or no?
