Japan doesn't need a TV show to show how scary a nuclear disaster can be.
TV Tokyo, a major station in the Japanese capital, has canceled its scheduled broadcast of the eighth and final season of 24 because of its depiction of radiation poisoning and other traumatic plot threads involving nuclear and biological weaopns.
Considering The Simpsons and its meltdown jokes were deemed too insensitive all the way in western Europe, this hardly comes as a surprise.

"With the many victims of the current disaster in Japan, and ongoing concerns about radiation leaks from the nuclear power station, TV Tokyo has decided not to show the planned final season and show season five instead," a station spokesman told the Hollywood Reporter.
The late Fox drama's critically acclaimed fifth season dealt largely in nerve gas rather than nuclear fallout.
The 9.0 earthquake and subsequent tsunami that devastated parts of Japan on March 11 also triggered multiple explosions at a nuclear power plant in Fukushima that destroyed four reactor cooling systems. Though a complete meltdown has been averted so far, radiation has reportedly seeped into the water supply, food materials and nearby soil.
In season eight, the son of a Russian terrorist falls terminally ill after being exposed to the nuke-ready uranium rods they're transporting into the U.S. (He would have died from radiation poisoning, but his nasty father ended up shooting him.)
Also last month, the Clint Eastwood-directed drama Hereafter was pulled from Japanese cinemas because of its terrifying scene depicting the 2004 tsunami in Southeast Asia.
